About CoachingStore.com
For those who changed their name to Coach.
It Started in a One-Bedroom Apartment
In 1998, Joe Young was a first-year varsity coach at Cy-Fair ISD in Houston, Texas. Like most coaches, he worked long hours for modest pay, poured himself into his players, and spent his own money on resources that were hard to find and harder to justify buying.
The internet was just emerging. There was no Amazon. No YouTube. No community built around coaches.
There was nothing.
So Joe built something.
From a one-bedroom apartment, working nights after practice, he launched CoachingStaff.com; a link repository built for coaches, by a coach. Think of it as Yahoo for the coaching world: a place where film, drills, playbooks, and clinics could all be found in one spot. It filled a gap that nobody else was filling.
Built in the Trenches
As an offensive lineman and an offensive line coach, he understood what it meant to do the hard, unglamorous work. This work doesn't show up on highlight reels but determines everything about whether a program wins.
CoachingStore.com was built with that same mentality.
CoachingStaff.com grew into CoachingStore.com, where coaches could purchase DVDs, books, and training resources from the best minds in the sport. As Joe advanced into head coaching and then athletic director, life got full. The store went on hold. But the idea never went away.
Because the need never went away.
Decades Years Later
Today, CoachingStore.com is still here and built for the modern coach. We carry equipment and training tools across all sports and all levels from youth league coaches working the weekend sidelines to varsity staff grinding year-round.
We serve coaches because we are coaches.
Joe is still actively involved in school administration. This store is run by him and a small, dedicated staff that understands what coaches actually need because they've been there.
Why We Do This
Coaching is one of the most influential jobs in the world, and one of the least resourced.
You give up evenings, weekends, and summers. You invest in your athletes out of your own pocket. You carry your players' problems home with you at night because you actually care.
You changed your name to Coach.
This store exists to make sure you have everything you need to do your job well -- the tools, the resources, the film, and the gear that help you build something that lasts. We've served thousands of coaches over 28 years. We're not going anywhere.
Joe Young, Founder
Joe Young began his coaching career as a middle school teacher-coach in Conroe ISD before moving to Cy-Fair ISD in Houston, where he built CoachingStaff.com in 1998. He went on to serve as a head football coach, athletic director, and remains active in school administration today as a superintendent.
He started this store because he was the coach who needed it.
